...a very plausible position for Mr. Dyer to take, especially with the History he has been following now decades.
I only hope that Mr. Biden has a good memory too. He may see the parallel to the Problem, with its result in Cyprus, and how it is evolving in the Ukraine. And, i hope that Mr. Zelenskyy has the capacity to end the Problem for all of us, through the Ukraine's Constitutional reform; a BBF, a system of government not unlike America's own: Freedom for all Citizens as Individuals equal without further discrimination or distinction, and as Persons in Liberty demonstrating as Constituencies (Majorities) their Goodwill providing the special needs of minorities in Good Faith that live among them.
...it is a matter of intentions. And let's not forget that Mr Erdogan could use the same notion, a BBF, for his own Constitutional reform, given how "Turkishness" is proving to be, beyond Cyprus, tearing at Turkey's very own fabric. Such reform is not anathema to his desire to make a Legacy for himself that is greater than Kemal. (He may have the world's great esteem trust and adulation doing so; he may have a Caliphate that's centered in Istanbul.)
...how does Putin get out of a War Crimes Trial? Coming to terms with his own country's diversity is one choice, and capturing Mr. Zelenskyy to put him on trial is another. Ending the Problem is important to him, in Russia, for Russians, because "Russianness" (and his "Cyprus solution", i.e./e.g. Georgia, Crimea), this time is not cheap.
Then there are the real problems, if these men are real Leaders that they would fight together even more seriously, because the lesson we and they should have learned from the First World War (Lest we Forget) is that we should not fight against each other; there are bigger enemies to fight like Hunger and Disease, like plunder and the Ignorance around it that leaves the planet harmed not just the living in sickness and despair.
...we can hope that in Love there is an infinite power, and lovingly these men may make History, where they are Heroes to 'us', those of us not "them".
Indeed, Mr. Dyer takes what could be called a more realistic position. Yet on the other hand these are most extraordinary times; as such extraordinary measures appear more acceptable (given the existential question for all of them if they do not), given the existential question, if they do not, for all of us.
...good read.
