...clearly, you are ignoring why the coup successful for three days, failed. Cypriots, to be more particular, Greek Cypriots did not support the "Greeks". They like the rest of Humanity at that point had put their hopes on the (rest of the) Guarantors, more particularly Turkey. And here we are torn in two, for "Turkishness". Indeed, these elites did not suffer from the horrible result, they thrive, both "Greek", and "Turk"; and 'us'?

...i ask you all to remember, who died, who were murdered and made to disappear in our division both in '63 and '74; it was not "them", it was those not "them": those Cypriot.

Cypriots (those who see themselves as a People Cypriot first) have no representation, divided as they are. While "They" control the Agenda, this has been a fact.

It is, in the end, the People themselves who must demonstrate their will for change if their Leadership will not act. So long as "Greekness" and "Turkishness" remain unopposed by them, for Cypriots they are impotent speakers of platitudes afraid to act.

Cyprus in his reply to Bagehote is quite correct. There is a difference between a Greek and a "Greek", and we as Cypriots know all too well that a "Turk" and a "Greek" are no different with what they do to Turks.
